Welcome!

Hello, I’m John Jakovich, Chief Information Officer at JCA.  I’m pleased and excited to share our experiences working with non-profit technology with you in this blog under the “JCA Innovation” category.  At JCA we work on an assortment of projects including systems integrations, data migrations, custom applications and internet development. Generally we utilize a Microsoft “stack” including SQL Server, Reporting Services, Analysis Services, ASP.Net and the .Net platform. The JCA Engineering group is composed of 9 talented engineers with a wide variety of experiences.

In this blog, we’ll offer our insights and experiences (good and bad) working with the fundraising, ticketing and CRM applications we all use daily. I think that given our eclectic engineering staff and range of projects, we’ll have lots of interesting tidbits to share. Here’s a snapshot of a few projects we’re currently working on:

  • We’re working on a ticketing web site implementation for a major arts organization. The web site utilizes the Tessitura SOAP API via an ASP.Net and AJAX interface. We’ve worked with the client to greatly improve web site performance and ticket sales throughput.
  • We’re working on a fundraising and patient tribute web site for a large children’s hospital.  We’re developing an SQL Server and ASP.Net platform that’s integrated with Blackbaud NetCommunity™ (BBNC) and The Raiser’s Edge™ to facilitate patient tributes and viral giving. We use the Blackbaud NetCommunity API to process the gifts and link the giving data to the tribute application.
  • We continuously develop our business intelligence and reporting platform, JCA Answers. JCA Answers utilizes SQL Server Analysis Services data cubes and a custom Windows application for browsing data and creating reports. We’re thrilled with the success of JCA Answers. Our client list includes some of the world’s most renowned venues, and our C# OLAP client is installed on hundreds of desktops.
  • We are working with several clients on migration projects utilizing our custom migration framework. We’ve been developing our data migration software and methodology for more than 20 years. We don’t think anyone does it better.

This is just a small sample of the dozens of projects JCA is working on. Tune in regularly for information, updates and code from the front lines!
